Apple cut iPhone 5 component orders
Apple allegedly cut its new smartphone component orders, including screens. According to reports, Apple's decision has been communicated to suppliers last month.Reported by the Wall Street Journal, Monday (01/14/2013), cutting the component orders according to two sources who remain anonymous, due to low demand for the smartphone which is much than expected. Apple reportedly has cut half of the iPhone 5 screen orders for January to March quarter.
According to the same source, in addition to reducing the supply of screens, Apple also cut the other components of the high-end smartphone.
iPhone 5 is the sixth generation iPhone which is the successor of the iPhone 4S. Apple held an official ceremony to introduce the new phone on September 12, 2012 and pre-orders begin on September 14, 2012.
Initial demand for the smartphone reported to exceed the supply available at launch on September 21, 2012. In the pre-order period, the iPhone 5 has sold twenty times faster than its predecessor.

I think Apple's problem with low sales of iPhone 5 is that they didn't offer anything really new with this device. It's hard to surprise modern user with a bigger display and awful map service.
