Qualcomm unveils MSM8226 and MSM8626 Snapdragon S4 Processors

Info Tech - Qualcomm unveils new variant of the Snapdragon S4: MSM8226 and MSM8626 type. Both processors comes with a quad-core that is claimed to bring connectivity and premium multimedia for 3G handsets.

Each CPU carries such features Adreno 305 GPU, capable of playing 1080p, and the camera can capture up to 13MP. The chips are made with 28nm fabrication also supports dual SIM, and is designed for networks in China (TD-SCDMA, CDMA 1xAdv and HSPA+). Qualcomm promises power savings up to 40% and 60% smaller than the previous generation.

“The addition of Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 family extend our excellence in the field of performance and low-power for a lot of smartphones,” said Cristiano Amon, executive vice president and co-president of mobile products and computerization.

Qualcomm will also release a version of Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) MSM8226 and MSM8626 for. QRD program will provide resources in developing handsets for producers. QRD explain the details of hardware and software that has been tested as reference material compatibility.

Both of these new Snapdragon S4 processors will begin found on new mobile phone to be released in 2013.
